With over 173,000 visitors, more than 600 carefully selected exhibitors and an average of 80 of the world's top competitors, 21st century Burghley Horse Trials is a far cry from the inaugural event, which took place over 60 years ago.

Gladwell & Patterson are delighted to be returning to the annual Defender Burghley Horse Trials this September, showcasing a focused selection of paintings celebrating the British countryside and equestrian subject. Set within the parkland of Burghley House, the event brings together sport, heritage and contemporary country life, providing a distinct context for the presentation of works rooted in landscape and rural tradition. Our Stamford gallery, on the corner of Red Lion Square, is around a ten-minute walk from the grounds.
