Description
Lucy Kent's Golden Autumn Evening celebrates the changing seasons of the British countryside, capturing the particular atmosphere of an autumn evening as the last warmth of summer gives way to the cooler months. Based in North Wiltshire, Kent draws much of her inspiration from the rural landscape surrounding her home, where familiar views are continually transformed by shifting light, weather and the passage of time.
Originally trained in classical portraiture at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence and London Fine Arts Studios, Kent's transition towards landscape painting offered greater freedom for artistic expression. Working both en plein air and in the studio, she embraces the spontaneity of painting directly from nature, allowing her observations and memories of a place to develop into expressive compositions. In Golden Autumn Evening, Kent explores the fleeting beauty of the changing season, when the countryside takes on a particular richness beneath the evening sky. Her instinctive application of oil paint reflects a contemporary approach to the British landscape tradition, bringing together a strong sense of place with an expressive appreciation of light and atmosphere.
