In March Primroses, Olivia Tuck turns to record a seasonal subject observed directly in the landscape. The cluster of early primroses, painted at close range, reflects an attentiveness to natural form that underpins her wider practice, where careful study of structure, colour and surface has long been central to her work. Although best known for her considered still-life compositions, Tuck has increasingly explored botanical subjects in their natural setting, using the same disciplined approach to observation that characterises her studio paintings.
