Defender Burghley Horse Trials
Gladwell & Patterson are delighted to return to the Defender Burghley Horse Trials 2023, where we will present a focused selection of paintings celebrating the British countryside and equestrian subject. Set within the parkland of Burghley House, the event brings together sport, heritage and contemporary country life, providing a distinct context for the presentation of works rooted in landscape and rural tradition.
First held in 1961, Burghley has evolved into one of only seven CCI 5* events worldwide, recognised as among the most demanding tests in international eventing. Now attracting over 170,000 visitors, it remains a key fixture within both the sporting and cultural calendar, offering a setting in which art, tradition and contemporary practice are closely aligned.
