Description
In Malthouse Yard Quay, Brancaster Staithe, Mike Bernard fuses a mixture of abstraction and landscape and captures Norfolk in a new light. Amongst a cloud filled moody sky, red boats and darkened rooftops of the Norfolk coast emerge out of the coastline. This painting has a richly textured mix of paint, collage and mark-making creating an amazing light that pierces the grasses and marsh with fleeting brilliance. It is a dynamic interpretation by Bernard of place punctuated with weather and memory.
