Dylan Waldron
Description
Dylan Waldron is a British painter whose still lifes reflect a longstanding interest in the traditions of European painting. Raised in an artistic household, he studied at Stourbridge College of Art and Wolverhampton Polytechnic, graduating in 1976. His practice draws particularly on the restraint of seventeenth-century Spanish still-life painting, in which everyday objects become subjects of quiet contemplation.
In Snowberries, Waldron turns to the natural world, continuing his exploration of overlooked botanical forms and the changing seasons. His approach also recalls the Dutch Golden Age, particularly artists such as Adriaen Coorte, who found beauty and significance in similarly unassuming subjects. Through patient, traditional painting techniques, Waldron brings this historical sensibility into a contemporary setting. Having exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since 1983, Waldron continues to find inspiration in the understated beauty of everyday life, as beautifully demonstrated in Snowberries.
