View from the Cliffs, Marseilles, France.

Jean Baptise-Olive’s French seascape shows a deep blue sea that rushes against the calm white rocks whilst the wispy light blue sky hangs graciously above the movement. The artist’s dynamic impressionist-style brushstroke implies a rural town sitting on the rugged background, and smudges of deep purple imply a mountainous background. Looking at the painting you can envision the light heat of the French sun and a light wind whilst the water beating against the cliffs.
