Summer Garden.

Francis Cadell’s impressionist outdoor scene shows a walkway shrouded by shrubbery. In the distance, two figures meander through the idyllic scene, and closer to the foreground two well-dressed ladies rest in the cool of the shade. Cadell’s impressive brushwork is vibrant and dynamic suggesting wildflowers in the foreground and helping to render the effect of light when filtered through the trees into the distance. The painting is a vision of serenity on a warm summers day.
