Entrée de Bessé-sur-Braye, (Sarthe).

Montezin’s rural French landscape renders masterfully the comings and goings of a small village. A man walks ahead with his dog, passing by some cows which are resting in the shade. The artist has given the impression of a horse and cart coming towards the viewer, and a village can be seen in the distance. Montezin’s impressionist landscape shows his skill in rendering figures, animals and buildings in just the flick of a brush. His use of a muted, calm palette adds a simple grandeur to the simplicity of the scene.
