Born in Rethel, France, Thiéry was a distinguished French painter who was dedicated to capturing the essence of his surroundings. Initially pursuing legal studies, Thiéry's passion for art led him to study under the tutelage of landscape painter Eugène Damas. He further honed his craft under the mentorship of the esteemed Jean-Léon Gérôme, a prominent figure in nineteenth century French art known for his meticulous technique and classical approach. Thiéry's commitment to his art is evident in his diverse body of work, which encompasses landscapes, portraits, and significant contributions to religious and public art. Notably, he created paintings for the chapels of Saint-Joseph and the Virgin Mary, as well as paintings of the stations of the cross for the Church of Saint-Jean de Montmartre in 1910. His accolades include multiple exhibitions at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he was honoured with a gold medal in 1923, underscoring his recognition and esteem within the French art community.

Thiery’s painting style is characterised by fluid, expressive brushstrokes that convey movement and vitality. He applies paint with a confident hand, allowing the landscape to emerge organically through layered tones and modulated textures.
