Welcome to the Notswolds: A Talk with Adam Dant
Join artist Adam Dant as he unravels the curiosities that shape the Notswolds map.
Join us at Gladwell & Patterson on 10 September, 6.00-8.00pm for an evening with acclaimed British artist Adam Dant, as he introduces Welcome to the Notswolds — a richly detailed new work created for Notswolds. Bringing his singular eye for place, character and tradition to England’s often-overlooked heartland, Dant’s map is part cartography, part social history and part affectionate satire. It charts the towns, trades, landscapes, landmarks and peculiarities that together give the region its distinctive identity.
Known for his intricate, hand-drawn panoramas of British life, Dant has woven the map with local stories, historic references, makers, customs and rituals, capturing both the history of the area and the people who continue to shape it today. During the talk, Adam will explore the stories and research behind the work, sharing some of the characters, places and unexpected details discovered along the way.
