The idea of the landscape as a vessel for memory and myth lies at the heart of Kenneth Webb’s painting. For decades he has returned to the wild terrain of Connemara on Ireland’s west coast, where bogland, lakes and distant mountains form the foundation of a deeply personal visual language. In Kaleidoscope, these landscapes appear transformed through colour and shifting pattern, evoking not only the physical character of the land but also the folklore, atmosphere and ancient narratives that surround it.
Now ninety-eight and still actively painting from his studio and garden in Connemara, Webb continues a career that spans nearly eight decades. The exhibition brings together recent works alongside paintings from earlier periods, revealing the evolution of an artist whose practice has long centred on the expressive possibilities of landscape.
