Description
Sunny Days by Georgina Potter captures the rugged character of the Cornish coastline through energetic, expressive brushwork and a sensitive handling of light. Craggy cliffs rise sharply from the shoreline, their angular forms echoed in the broken textures of the rocks and surf below. Potter’s palette moves between sea greens, muted violets, warm earth tones and soft greys, allowing the rocks and sky to mirror one another in both colour and movement. Thick, painterly marks give the surface a restless vitality, suggesting shifting tides, sea spray and fast-moving coastal weather. Rather than depicting a fixed moment, the painting evokes the sensation of being there, standing among the rocks as light flickers across wet sand and waves break against the cliffs.
