Description
Henri Martin presents his domestic surroundings as a sanctuary of colour and structure. The house is not simply a backdrop but an integral element of the composition, its pale walls and shuttered windows closely entwined with the surrounding garden. Architecture and nature are brought into balance, each defining the other through shifting light, shadow and growth.
Using countless small, mosaic-like strokes, Martin builds the painted surface through accumulation rather than outline. This pointillist-inflected approach allows light to flicker across foliage, stone and plaster, giving the scene depth and visual intensity. Greens, blues and softened earth tones are carefully layered, creating a surface that feels dense and immersive.
