Description
A broad, diffused sky descends towards a narrow horizon line, where pale cream and muted yellow meet a darker band of earth tones. The lower half of the canvas is structured through layered planes of rust, sienna and teal, applied with a palette knife and partially smoothed back to reveal underlying colour. Subtle transitions between light and shadow suggest receding space, while the surface retains visible ridges and scraped textures. The composition is anchored by a softly illuminated central area that appears to hover above the darker foreground.
This work reflects the artist’s sustained engagement with transitional light. By focusing on dusk as a tonal event rather than a literal scene, he employs controlled impasto and glazing to examine the meeting point of atmosphere and land.
