Description Maurice Martin’s Le Village d’Andhoatapenaka près de Tananarive captures daily life in Madagascar at the moment of its independence. Awarded the Prix de Madagascar at the Paris Salon, Martin’s vision is empathetic and luminous, depicting adobe houses, villagers and tropical light with Post-Impressionist vitality. His brushwork blends en plein air observation with warmth and respect, offering a rare record of a newly sovereign nation.
