Description
In Leopard Descent, Waites captures the leopard at the moment of descent, body elongated and muscles taut as it moves downward with controlled precision. The composition is driven by diagonals, creating a strong sense of direction and latent energy. The leopard’s head is focused, its posture alert yet fluid, conveying both power and agility. Surface modelling is selectively detailed, with smooth passages contrasting against more textured areas to suggest tension beneath the skin. The warm, green-brown patina enhances the sculpture’s naturalism while maintaining a contemporary edge.
