Pennsylvania Antiques Show
Find Gladwell & Patterson at Booth 54, Valley Forge Casino Resort
At the inaugural Pennsylvania Antiques Show, Gladwell & Patterson presents a focused selection of Post-Impressionist paintings, introducing a group of European works from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The display centres on a period of transition, when established traditions of landscape and figure painting were reconsidered through evolving approaches to colour, structure and surface.
The works on view reflect the international character of Post-Impressionism, bringing together artists whose practices were shaped by movement between regions and by engagement with differing artistic centres. Painted across France and neighbouring areas, these compositions record a range of subjects, from river valleys and agricultural settings to more structured, formally resolved scenes. Each demonstrates a sustained attention to observation, while also revealing a shift towards more deliberate construction within the picture surface.
