Description "The minis in this collection are not separate from but a continuation of the concepts that I have been exploring throughout. My intention with each mini painting is to create an iridescent, jewel of a painting. The subjects themselves are ones I revisit and try to reinvent in my work. The familiarity I have with them allows me to refine my depiction of the subject whilst leaving room for experimentation. I like to push the colours I am using in the subjects in a way that they still read as 'real' and are true to my observations of them, but also enhance their decorative nature. I am constantly pursuing a satisfying combination of palette, brushstrokes and texture in each mini. The backgrounds continue into the frames which we custom create for each painting, paying particular attention to the colour match to ensure the desired effect. In my work, and never more so than with the minis, the frames become a continuation of the paintings" - Ollie Tuck.
