Description Studio Window offers what is perhaps one of the most personal interiors in Small Pleasures: the view Ollie returns to every day when she paints. Its subject is entirely familiar, yet the painting was sparked by something fleeting, a sudden shard of afternoon light falling across her studio window and briefly changing the room’s energy, so much so that she had to capture it. “I had to work fast to catch it before it passed,” Ollie recalls. Patterned cushions, the window frame and the rooftops beyond are held together by a gentle light. The world outside is deliberately softened, receding rather than competing with the intimacy of the studio. The result feels less like a formal interior and more like a glimpse into Ollie’s love for colour, pattern and domestic detail. “I am happy to share this intimate view of my studio space,” she says.
